It’s kind of depressing
Or I should just say it’s depressing. When you are training for an event and have to stop due to injury or sickness. Today I was supposed to run 10 miles, as part of my training for the Carlsbad Half Marathon on January the 20th. And as I was driving to the run I started feeling sick. It’s like a light fever, a mild cold or throat infection. So nothing major, but, like I said, it depresses me.
At least sickness is not as bad as injury. When you are injured you just don’t know when you’ll be back. When you are sick you kind of know.
Let’s see if I can run a 5-miler tomorrow or at least 3 miles. I guess I still have some time to increase my mileage before the event.

In my experience, it’s better to take a couple of days off, recover *completely*, and then hit the road again, in good shape.
The longest run Olesya and I did before our half in September was about 10 or 11 miles, and we had no problem on race day. The longest run before my triathlon was 4 miles, and I had no trouble running 6 on race day.
You have time. Get well first.
